WOMEN-CORE Women in Construction scientific Research

Main work tasks:

The objectives will be reached through a work plan that incorporates six different work packages (WP), one of which is dedicated to management (WP6).

WP 1: State of the art and methodological approach (leader CIREM, Spain)

This first WP will serve to set up the basis for the research work to be conducted in WOMEN-CORE. The WP will be based on collecting and analysing quantitative and qualitative sources of information to define and make an overall assessment of the availability and accuracy of existing data related to women in construction research. The results of this WP will be crucial for developing a more robust methodological approach for WP2 and WP3.

Duration: April 2006 to September 2006

WP 2: Improving the knowledge base of Women in construction research: exploiting existing sources (leader Loughborough University, UK)

The results obtained from WP1 are taken as a basis to develop WP2. This WP will be focused on exploiting existing sources of information related to women in construction research. This will cover the collection and analysis of information regarding the highly qualified labour force, women participation in European projects, patents, publication and citation. The results of WP2 will be a crucial input for improving the knowledge base of women in construction research.

Duration: June 2006 to July 2007

WP 3: Improving the knowledge base of Women in construction research: exploring new sources (leader CEWS, Germany)

The results obtained from WP1 are taken as a basis to develop WP3. WP3 will be focused on exploiting new sources of information related to women in construction research. This will cover the collection and analysis of the information through surveys and interviews to institutions and individuals. In addition WP3 will involve gathering new information on, and evaluating new patterns of Women as patent originators, the impact of gender on success in peer review acceptance, mentoring programmes and networking experiences. The results of this WP3 will be crucial in improving the knowledge base of women in construction research.

Duration: October 2006 to March 2008

WP 4: Driving forces, new opportunities and recommendations for empowering Women in construction research (leader CVUT, Czech Republic)

The objective of WP4 is to define driving forces, new opportunities and recommendations to empower women in construction research. The basis of WP4 is the work undertaken within the previous WPs. WP4 will define the driving forces and trends of gender in construction research, define specific indicators for construction research and explore new possibilities in relation to mentoring and to networking initiatives. The results of this WP4 will be crucial in defining new recommendations for empowering women in construction research.

Duration: December 2007 to July 2008

WP5: Awareness, dissemination and exploitation (leader CIFS, Denmark)
