WOMEN-CORE Women in Construction scientific Research

About the conference

The WOMEN-CORE project is pleased to announce the forthcoming International Conference: "Empowering Women in Construction Research". This free event will take place at ATENEU in Barcelona, Spain, on 3 December 2008 and will be conducted in English.

The conference will bring together all those interested in the impact of gender in construction research and related fields (including researchers and professional experts from industry and academia, and local, regional and national stakeholders from other networks and associations) to discuss gender issues in construction research and new perspectives for empowering women researchers in the sector.

The specific objectives are to:

  • disseminate the final results of the WOMEN-CORE project
  • share the experiences of women construction researchers in academia and industry
  • explore new perspectives to empower women researchers
  • launch the WOMEN-CORE network for construction researchers.

The conference will be structured around two plenary sessions, the first of which will present key findings from the WOMEN-CORE project while the second will concern gender equality and scientific excellence. A roundtable will be held to discuss ways of supporting women in construction research with the participation of a number of key stakeholders. The conference will also include the launch of a brand new network for construction researchers.

Researchers working on any of the topics explored in the conference are invited to submit posters of their research to bring other perspectives and/or create a debate. Research through case studies, comparative methodology and multidisciplinary approaches, will be particularly welcomed.

For more information on the practical organisation of the conference, please contact Ms Natalia Ceberio (e-mail: nceberio@labein.es), who will provide you with any further details you may require.
